I am a retired wood worker and this bunk bed  was a very popular style that I built and sold to furniture stores during my wood working career.  I have carefully revised the plans for this beds so that even those without experience would have no trouble building the bed . All of the material used in the construction of the bed is off- the- shelf that can be purchased at any building supply and hardware store. The beds are constructed out of 2" thick wood and are very sturdy even for the most active kids. The tools required to build the beds are basic, i.e. hand held power saw, drill, sander, and wrench. The plans for the storage drawers are included, but they are not attached to the bed frame so it is optional as to whether you build them.
